New album “Songs from Nashville” out now!
Stanley M. Erdreich Jr., is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. After a successful career spanning 60 years in international banking, venture capital, real estate and appointments under three presidential administrations for work involving matters of the Pacific Basin he finally retired and set his sights on creative adventures, at the ripe young age of 86!
Stanley has always had a creative mind, beginning with writing poetry in college, then short stories and screenwriting followed over the years. He published a book of poetry as a COVID project (Swallow Path) asking his grandchildren to each select a poem and provide an illustration. These creative endeavors led to country song writing. “My incentive to write country music came from my Alabama upbringing and the boredom of COVID. Being near Muscle Shoals and Nashville made that genre of music even more "close to home" for me. Also, having published a book of poetry, I found that songs and poetry were so similar. All I had to do was . . . make these songs rhyme.”
Some of those songs were recorded in Nashville in July 2022 by a Grammy award winning music producer. The songs can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and most other streaming platforms.

SO MANY MILES
‘BEEN OUT ON THIS ROAD, WAY TOO LONG
SMOKY BARS AND SEXY WOMEN, JUST PLAYIN’ ONE MORE SONG
MY OLD GUITAR, IS BENDING SAD,
TRYIN’ TO FIND THE ONLY LOVE THAT I HAVE EVER HAD
ONCE SHE SAID “IT’S OVER”, SHE WALKED ON OUT THE DOOR
I’M SITTIN’ IN THIS MOTEL ROOM, LIKE EVERY TIME BEFORE
WON’T SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE . . . MAKE THIS SONG RHYME
I’VE BEEN STUCK OUT ON THIS HIGHWAY, FOR SUCH A LONG TIME
SO MANY MILES GONE BY
BUT NO ONE CAN SAY, I DIDN’T EVEN TRY
THE LIFE I LED WAS LONESOME, AND MY SINS I COULDN’T HIDE
NEVER FOUND THE PERFECT WOMAN BUT I AIN’T NO PERFECT MAN
SOME MIGHT SAY “THAT AIN’T A CRIME”
BUT THAT’S JUST WHO I AM
ONCE SHE SAID “IT’S OVER”, SHE WALKED ON OUT THE DOOR
NOW I’M SITTIN’ IN THIS MOTEL ROOM, LIKE EVERY TIME BEFORE
WON’T SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE . . . TO MAKE THIS SONG RHYME
BEEN STUCK OUT ON THE HIGHWAY, FOR SUCH A LONG TIME
SO MANY MILES GONE BY
YEAH, ONCE SHE SAID “IT’S OVER”, SHE WALKED ON OUT THE DOOR
YES, I’M SITTIN’ IN THIS MOTEL ROOM, LIKE EVERY TIME BEFORE
WON’T SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE . . . TO MAKE THIS SONG RHYME
I BEEN STUCK OUT ON THE HIGHWAY, FOR SUCH A LONG TIME
SO MANY MILES GONE BY
OOOH
SO MANY MILES GONE BY

YOU AND ME
I TOOK EVERYTHING I WANTED IN MY LIFE
DIDN’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT NO ONE
NOT EVEN MY WIFE
MMMM, FILLED MY EMPTY HOUSE WITH FANCY THINGS
BUT NONE OF THAT DON’T MEAN A THING
‘CAUSE I’D RATHER HAVE A YOU AND ME
TELL ME, WHAT I NEED TO DO
I GOTTA SIXMONTH OLD AND A DRAGON TATTOO
I’M PLAYIN’ A GIG IN A HONKY-TONK BAR
TONIGHT I’M PROBABLY SLEEPIN’ IN MY CAR
HOPIN’ MY HISTORY, WON’T REPEAT NO MORE
PLEASE TELL ME NOW,
AND SET ME FREE
I’M NOT THE MAN I WANT TO BE
I’D RATHER HAVE A YOU AND ME
I DIDN’T KNOW MUCH,
JUST TIRED OF BEIN’ TOO YOUNG
SO I TOOK MY GUITAR AND THEM SAD SONGS THAT I SUNG
BIG CITY BOUND THOUGHT I HAD TO BE
AROUND THE BEND WAS TOO HARD TO SEE
YOU KNOW I’D RATHER JUST HAVE
A YOU AND ME
MY FAIRWEATHER FRIENDS
ALWAYS ROUND MY DOOR
DRAGGIN’ ME TO PARTIES
AND TOO MUCH MORE
AND ALL THIS RUNNIN’ AROUND,
IS GONNA PUT ME IN THE GROUND
PLEASE TELL ME NOW, AND SET ME FREE
I’M NOT THE MAN THAT I WANT TO BE
I’D RATHER HAVE A YOU AND ME
LET ME TELL YA AGAIN
I’D RATHER HAVE A YOU AND ME
MMM, I’D RATHER HAVE A YOU AND ME

SING ME A LOVE STORY
IS THERE A BETTER STORY THAN LOVE?
‘CAUSE IF THERE IS, I’LL SURELY LISTEN TO IT
YOU CAN BE LUCKY IN LOVE
I KNOW ..... ‘CAUSE, I’VE BEEN THROUGH IT
HE NEVER TOLD ME I’M BAD
DIDN’T HAVE TO CONFIDE THAT HE WAS SAD
I’M SO LUCKY IN LOVE
AND THAT’S ALL THERE IS TO IT
I NEVER THOUGHT THAT HE MIGHT BE
THE ONE AND ONLY FOR ME
BUT WITH A LITTLE BIT OF LUCK
HE FINALLY DID AGREE
LIVING ALL THESE YEARS
FAR MORE LAUGHTER THAN WITH TEARS
THE SIMPLE LIFE THAT WE’VE SHARED
AND THE SWEET JOYS THAT WE’VE TASTED
YOU CAN BE LUCKY IN LOVE
I KNOW ..... ‘CAUSE, I’VE BEEN THROUGH IT
BRIDGE
AND WHEN MY TIME IS DONE, HE WILL BE THE ONLY ONE
WHO ALWAYS MAKES ME SMILE
AND I WANT MY KIDS TO KNOW, THERE’S NO BETTER WAY TO GROW
AS LOVERS AND FRIENDS TO THE VERY END
IS THERE A BETTER STORY THAN LOVE?
‘CAUSE IF THERE IS, I’LL SURELY LISTEN TO IT
CHORUS
YOU CAN BE LUCKY IN LOVE
YOU CAN THANK THE STARS ABOVE
WELL, YOU CAN BE LUCKY IN LOVE
I KNOW, ‘CAUSE I’VE BEEN THROUGH IT
MMMM, I’VE BEEN THROUGH IT
